D.Gray-man is an animated and manga series written by Katsura Hoshino and published by Shueisha. The manga version of this series is still ongoing while the anime ended with 103 episodes. D.Gray-man uses the old "Humans vs. Demons" concept, being without any doubt one of the best within this genre. Art is stunning, sound is top notch and the characters are... different.

9 (Excellent) Storyline

The story tells the story of 15-years-old Allen Walker, whose left arm can transform into a monstrous claw and his left eye being able to identify "Akuma", evolving machines created by the Millennium Earl to help him destroy all humanity. As order by his master General Cross Marian, Allen becomes an Exorcist, who can destroy Akuma, for the Black Order, an organization attempting to stop the Earl. Allen is sent to recover pieces of Innocence, a substance that gives the Exorcists the ability to destroy Akuma. The Earl decides to call together the Noah Family, superhuman descendants of Noah who can destroy Innocence. Both sides start the search for the Great Heart, the most powerful piece of Innocence that will assure victory to the side that wins it.

10 (Perfect) Characters

Character-wise, this anime is pure kickass, enough said. We have tons of characters, each of them are well though and have their own personality. D.Gray-man being a Shonen, we have the usual "yet to be strong" Allen Walker, on his way to power, his girl friend Lenalee Lee that wants to protect everyone and Lavi, a deep and mysterious character with a not-so-clear past. As for the Millennium Earl and his Noah Family, they are just very well thought, but I do have to say something about Tyki Mikk and Road Kamelot, they have been perfectly executioned with their ill twisted personalities. Those two, alongside Cross Marian are one of the best characters I have seen an anime.

10 (Perfect) Graphics/Animation

This anime is from 2006, it is expected to be at least "solid", but it's way more than that. It's pretty well drawn and it goes great alongside the "dark" theme of the anime. Nothing to point out here.

7 (Good) Sound Effects/Voices

Voices are great too, I do agree that there might be one or two voices that don't go well with their personality/charisma, but they are overall good. Millennium Earls voice can be pretty annoying.

During their search, the Earl begins to kill the Generals, the higher ranked and most powerful Exorcists. To protect them, the Order attempts to bring the Generals back to their headquarters, Allen and Lenalee are nearly killed and saved by their Innocence, leading the Earl and Bookman and his apprentice Lavi, who are chronicling the war, to believe one of them to possesses the Great Heart. Meanwhile, the Order learns that the 14th, a Noah that betrayed his kin and was killed by the Earl, implanting his memories into Allen. The memories will erode Allen away until he becomes the 14th. This leads the Order to believe that Allen may betray them.

All Ages. Mild Violence.

DVD in the US and fansubs. You shouldn't have a hard time finding the DVDs and fansub released, in the usual place. :)

Overall it's a great series, lots of fun to watch, it's just too bad that it ended before the actual story ends. I'm sure you won't have any regrets if you choose to watch this series and you'll probably cry for more as soon as you finish those 103 episodes. This is a definitely a must watch for any person that claims to be an anime lover!
